What to do with your fluorescent tubes?

Did you know...
Every year 80 million fluorescent lights are sent to landfill sites in the UK - despite the fact that each lamp contains enough mercury to pollute 30,000 litres of water beyond a safe level for drinking.

Recycle Force offer a service that collects and recycles many items that are often just thrown away with general waste. By recycling we can reduce your landfill charges, enable you to comply with current legislation and help to preserve and improve our environment. Fluorescent/Sodium Lamps, Hazardous Waste, Cardboard, Paper or Plastics

London Recycling - Fluorescent tubes are classified as a 'hazardous waste' and therefore can only be disposed of in landfill sites which are both licensed and designated to accept hazardous waste. There is also a requirement that this waste is monitored and tracked by the Environment Agency. London Recycling can safely recycle the glass and mercury content, preventing this potentially dangerous waste from causing serious environmental damage.
